{PDOC00588} {PS00709; RIBOSOMAL_L30E_1} {PS00993; RIBOSOMAL_L30E_2} {BEGIN} ************************************* * Ribosomal protein L30e signatures * ************************************* A number of eukaryotic and archaebacterial ribosomal proteins can be grouped on the basis of sequence similarities. One of these families consists of: - Mammalian L30 [1]. - Leishmania major L30. - Yeast YL32 [2]. - Bacillus subtilis hypothetical protein ybxF. - Thermococcus celer L30 [3]. - A probable ribosomal protein (ORF 1) from Methanococcus vannielii [4]. - A probable ribosomal protein (ORF 104) from Sulfolobus acidocaldarius [5]. These proteins have 82 to 114 amino-acid residues. As signature patterns, we selected two conserved regions; one located in the N-terminal region, the other in the C-terminal. -Consensus pattern: [STA]-x(5)-G-x-[QKRN]-x(2)-[LIVMQ]-[KRQT]-x(2)-[KR]-x- [GS]-x(2)-[KQ]-x-[LIVM](3) -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL. -Other sequence(s) detected in Swiss-Prot: NONE. -Consensus pattern: [DE]-[LM]-G-[STALPD]-x(2)-[GK]-[KR]-x(6)-[LIVM]-x-[LIVM]- x-[DEN]-x-[GI] -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL, except for Bacillus subtilis ybxF. -Other sequence(s) detected in Swiss-Prot: NONE. -Last update: April 2006 / Pattern revised.
