{PDOC00764} {PS00996; RIBOSOMAL_S21E} {BEGIN} ************************************ * Ribosomal protein S21e signature * ************************************ A number of eukaryotic ribosomal proteins can be grouped on the basis of sequence similarities. One of these families consists of: - Mammalian S21 [1]. - Caenorhabditis elegans S21. - Plants S21. - Yeast S21 (Ys25) [2]. - Fission yeast S28 [3]. These proteins have 82 to 87 amino acids. As a signature pattern, we selected a highly conserved nonapeptide in the N-terminal part of these proteins. -Consensus pattern: [LV]-Y-[IVC]-P-R-K-C-S-[SAT] -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL. -Other sequence(s) detected in Swiss-Prot: NONE. -Last update: November 2005 / Pattern and text revised.
