{PDOC00841} {PS01097; HUPF_HYPC} {BEGIN} **************************************************************** * Hydrogenases expression/synthesis hupF/hypC family signature * **************************************************************** Bacterial membrane-bound nickel-dependent hydrogenases require a number of gene products for their expression and/or synthesis [1]. Among these genes, there is a group that codes for a family of small proteins (from 80 to 110 residues). The proteins that are known to belong to this family are: - Alcaligenes eutrophus and Azotobacter vinelandii hoxL and hypC. - Rhizobium leguminosarum and Rhodobacter capsulatus hupF and hypC. - Escherichia coli hypC and hybG. - Methanococcus jannaschii hypothetical protein MJ0200. All these proteins start with a conserved Met-Cys dipeptide. -Consensus pattern:
