Ribosomal protein L19e signature





Description

A number of eukaryotic and archaebacterial ribosomal proteins can be grouped on the basis of sequence similarities. One of these families consists of:

  • Mammalian ribosomal protein L19 [1].
  • Drosophila ribosomal protein L19 [2].
  • Slime mold (D. discoideum) vegetative specific protein V14 [3].
  • Yeast ribosomal protein L19 (YL14).
  • Archebacterial ribosomal protein L19E.

These proteins have 148 to 203 amino-acid residues. As a signature pattern, we selected a stretch of about 20 residues in the N-terminal part of these proteins.
