Ribosomal protein L34e signature

Description

A number of eukaryotic and archaebacterial ribosomal proteins can be grouped on the basis of sequence similarities. One of these families consists of:

  • Mammalian L34.
  • Mosquito L31 [1].
  • Plant L34 [2].
  • Yeast putative ribosomal protein YIL052c.
  • Archaebacterial L34e.

These proteins have 89 to 129 amino-acid residues. As a signature pattern, we selected a conserved region located in the N-terminal section of these proteins.

Last update:

December 2001 / Pattern and text revised.
