Ribosomal protein S27e signature





Description

A number of eukaryotic and archaebacterial ribosomal proteins can be grouped on the basis of sequence similarities. One of these families consists of [1]:

  • Mammalian S27 (human S27 was originally known as metallopan-stimulin 1).
  • Chlamydomonas reinhardtii S27.
  • Entamoeba histolytica S27.
  • Yeast S27.
  • Archaebacterial S27e.

These proteins have from 57 to 99 amino acids. They contain, in their central section, a putative zinc-finger region of the type C-x(2)-C-x(14)-C-x(2)-C. We have selected that region as a signature pattern.
