PROSITE documentation PDOC00990 [for PROSITE entry PS01288]

Uncharacterized protein family UPF0027 signature

Description

The following uncharacterized proteins have been shown [1] to share regions of similarities:

  • Escherichia coli hypothetical protein rtcB.
  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis hypothetical protein MtCY441.01.
  • Caenorhabditis elegans hypothetical protein F16A11.2.
  • Methanococcus jannaschii hypothetical protein MJ0682.

These are proteins of about 400 to 500 amino acid residues that contains a number of conserved regions, most of which are centered around charged residues. As a signature pattern, we selected one of these regions, located in the N-terminal region.
