We are deeply saddened by the passing of Amos Bairoch (1957–2025), the creator of PROSITE. We wish to dedicate our latest paper, published shortly before his death, to him. He will always be a source of inspiration to us.
Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends, and to all those who had the privilege of working with him. Rest in peace, Amos. Your work will live on long after you are gone.

PROSITE; PS51979; YEBF_CMI |
Name | YebF/Cmi domain |
| Function | ColM-producing strains are protected from the toxin that they produce by coexpression of a specific immunity protein, named Cmi. Cmi is anchored in the cytoplasmic membrane with an alpha-helix and contains a periplasmic domain that shows sequence similarity to YebF-like proteins which are known to be secreted into the external medium by some Gram-negative bacteria. The YebF/Cmi domain is typified by two cysteine residues, required for Cmi folding and structure stabilization. |
