We are deeply saddened by the passing of Amos Bairoch (1957–2025), the creator of PROSITE. We wish to dedicate our latest paper, published shortly before his death, to him. He will always be a source of inspiration to us.
Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends, and to all those who had the privilege of working with him. Rest in peace, Amos. Your work will live on long after you are gone.

Name | HNF-1 dimerization (HNF-p1) domain |
| Function | The homeodomain proteins hepatocyte nuclear factor (HNF)-1alpha and HNF-1beta comprise a functionnally important family in which dimerization is essential for DNA binding. HNF-1alpha and HNF-1beta regulate tissue-specific genes in liver, kidney, intestine, and pancreas. These proteins form homo- and heterodimers through an autonomously folded domain encompassing the 32 N- terminal amino acids (HNF-p1). The dimerization domain also binds the transcriptional coactivator DCoH, which stimulates HNF-1alpha activity. |
