Function |
Colipase is a small protein of ~100 amino acids that functions as a cofactor for pancreatic lipase. It also binds to the bile-salt covered triacylglycerol interface thus allowing the enzyme to anchor itself to the water-lipid interface. Colipases contain ten cysteines involved in five disulfide bonds. |

case <FTGroup:1>
Function |
Colipase is a cofactor of pancreatic lipase. It allows the lipase to anchor itself to the lipid-water interface. Without colipase the enzyme is washed off by bile salts, which have an inhibitory effect on the lipase. |
Subunit |
Forms a 1:1 stoichiometric complex with pancreatic lipase. |
Subcellular location |
Secreted. |
